Ian Otobo Wins WPTDS Malta (€20,300)

Ian Otobo topped a field of 174 players to win the WPTDeepStacks Malta Main Event on Monday night at the beautiful Dragonara Casino here in St. Julians, Malta.
Otobo was awarded €20,300 in prize money, a $3,000 Championship package, and the WPTDeepStacks trophy after winning a final table that clocked in at just under 7 hours of play today.

Action was slow to start day with play continuing for nearly three hours before our first elimination. It was Timothee Marlin hitting the rail in 9th, followed by Timo Hirvola in 8th, Marko La Grutta in 7th, Joseph Dunning in 6th, Gregoire Auzoux in 5th, and Marco Putin in 4th.

Three handed play didn’t last very long as Dario Marinelli ran into the aces of Roberto Campo to hit the rail in third. Heads up play we saw chips fly back and forth, but eventually it was Otobo’s time to shine, as his Qc2d would hold against the Jh2s of Campo. Campo wouldn’t leave empty handed as he takes home €14,220.

Here is a look at the final table results:

Ian Otobo – €20,300
Roberto Campo – €14,220
Dario Marinelli – €9,146

Gregoire Auzoux – €5,083
Joseph Dunning – €4,063
